Every piece thrown on our wheels carries the warmth of a working potter's studio — functional pottery made to be used, loved, and passed down.
Our Story
Ole Gilliam Mill Pottery grew from a simple belief: that the objects we use every day should be made with care, by human hands, on a spinning wheel. What started as a one-person studio has become a living workshop where tradition and experimentation shape every piece that leaves the door.
Located on Carbonton Road in Sanford, our studio sits on grounds that have held creative energy for generations. The mill history of the area — water power, grain, craft — runs deep in this soil, and it shows in the work. We source local clay, experiment with wood ash glazes, and honor the rhythms of a studio that never rushes.
Today, the studio offers handthrown stoneware, custom commissions, and an open door for anyone who wants to learn the craft. Whether you're picking up a mug for your morning coffee or signing up for your first wheel session, you're welcome here.
